Cleland Wildlife Park Koala Hold & Facilities Upgrades, Crafers, SA, 2025
Designed as a multifunctional space allowing for future expansion, the Koala Hold facility had to meet relevant animal welfare standards providing climate-controlled spaces for public, private and premium koala viewings, holds, photography and experiences. Ever conscious of energy use, when the weather is fine large tilt doors open changing indoor spaces to covered verandahs connected with the Cleland’s spectacular landscape beyond. Roof overhangs and building form is designed to allow natural light and ventilation throughout minimising the reliance on mechanical systems.
The entrance has been re-configured to improve flow, reduce queue times and increase selling opportunities.
Signage and opportunities for interpretation were considered providing clarity to guests and helping dramatically reduce queuing times as well as increase revenue via additional guest experiences.
