Ron & Raz House, Ludmilla, NT, 2004
Ron & Raz have slotted a pair of pavilions within an existing landscaped site in Ludmilla, an inner Darwin suburb. A simple material palette responds to project budget. The steel frame patterns the work throughout in super structure and detail. Steeply raking rafters reach to the treetops and steel framed shutters and polycarb clad double doors open to the lower shady external environment. Timber clad large sliding doors which match adjacent cladding enable spaces to interconnect with verandah movement line.
The house has a great ‘dynamic’ sense.
It can feel large yet intimate, open yet secure - all for not very much.
