Pumphouse, Kununurra, WA, 2008

The Pumphouse on a Diversion dam wall in Kununurra,  is an adaptive re-use of a WA heritage-listed structure and its industrial equipment into a restaurant.

The project required significant negotiation with local and state agencies, whilst addressing the intricate needs of restaurateur – including, despite the industrial setting, the creation of an intimate, friendly dining experiences, inside and out.

Extensions to accommodate kitchen and service areas are sympathetic with the industrial character of the site.

The project is a recognised example of re-use of heritage building by the WA Heritage Council.
