Conservation architecture projects include the preparation of Conservation Plans for many individual properties throughout the NT, WA and SA. Troppo have worked as conservation architects extensively for private clients, the National Trust (NT), and Commonwealth and State agencies. We are conversant with the Burra Charter and contemporary conservation architectural debate.

More recent conservation projects include:

-          York Post Office, York, WA
-          Mawson’s Hut, Antarctica

Projects such as Christo’s on the Wharf (Stokes hill Wharf, Darwin, 1991), Old Admiralty House (Darwin CBD, 2004-6) and Peewees (East Point Reserve, Darwin, 1995-7) are acclaimed projects in the public domain, where heritage items have been incorporated in new site development.

At Mawson Lakes on Adelaide’s outskirts, for LMC, we created concept plans for the development of a key community heritage site. This work was undertaken in concert with Heritage SA.

The practice has undertaken numerous house additions to heritage buildings, particularly in conservative inner Adelaide suburbs and the City itself, adhering to ICOMOS principles, with high clarity of new interventions in the heritage context.

Adrian Welke was awarded Life Membership of the national Trust of Australia (NT) in 1989.
