Troppo have provided master-planning for tourism and urban projects, including in framing design guidelines.
And we have been invited contributors to significant national & international master-planning design competitions/ bids, including for:
Darwin City Waterfront/ Laguna Village, Whitsundays/ Environmental Studies & University Forecourt, University of Tel Aviv, Israel (Winners)/ Urban Regeneration for ‘Living Steel’, Warsaw, Poland.
We have designed villages:
at North Beach for Becton, Byron Bay 2002-2008/ Darwin City Waterfront PPP bid for Macquarie Bank/ Leighton (with Edaw, HOK) 2005/ Laguna, Whitsundays, invited competition 2006/ North Hawks Nest to DA Masterplan (with Hassell), NSW 2006/ Aruma to DA, Walker Flat SA 2007/ Weddell New Town, Darwin NT (Winners)
...But, with properties passed on and opportunities lapsed, none are built!
Smaller redevelopment of public space has been effected, however, in Darwin and Adelaide. In these projects there is always integration of landscape, shade/ shelter, and rainwater play. And we seek development of a ground plane to accommodate people coming together in formal and informal ways – and hope to be surprised by the spaces’ use in ways we never imagined.
Interpretive and lighting design opportunities are sought in everything we do. And we engage with these specialists and artists from the very beginning, so that their magic becomes woven into the architecture.
